KCBS Cook-Off Kick-Off - Hazelwood, MO

Barbeque competition season has begun.

We just got back from a long weekend in Missouri, where Jon’s BBQ team, Three Porks and A Smoker, squared off against 53 other teams in the Kansas City Barbeque Society, Cook-Off Kick-Off competition in Hazelwood. As usual, the weekend was both fun and exhausting at the same time. Lots of beer, little sleep, and loads of barbeque!

Things really start to heat up on Saturday as the turn in times approach. My main job is garnishing the boxes...like little, teadius, floral arangements.

Otherwise I can usually be found doing this.

Crunch Time.

Turn in boxes (Chicken, Ribs, Pork, and Brisket).

Later we packed into the world's smallest room for the awards ceremony.
This has to be some sort of fire code violation.

Look! People are even packed into the little cubbies.

The guys did really well. It was a tough crowd and they still did awesome! Out of 54 teams, they placed 11th overall, and got four calls...2nd in ribs, 4th in pork steak, 5th in peoples choice (pork butt), and 9th in dessert!

A great season opener! Congratulations guys, one down, many more to go!
